Here there comes another project from südlich-t OHG were i was involved in. here i was mainly responsible for the shading and lighting of the chips which i created by the spot. To make changes easy if the customer had special wishes about the look of the chips e.g. not to realistic, we omitted to use a complex shader setup but rather split the scene in ambient, occlusion, shadow and translucency layers...
the look got quite what we expected so shading at all didn't caused any
much problems though, rather the rendering. because we used displacement
for the chips and thus had very high resoluted mesh, the renderfarm
refused to render some scenes with final gather and all chips included, so we split up the scene.
what us caused much more nightmares on this project is, that the customer had a very quirkly imagination about thelook of the spice clouds hitting the chips before they fall in the pack.
it was very often changing the particle simulation and submitting all the different dust and partlicle layers Finally i made the particle simulation once with hardware particle, for the dust and once for the spice granules with instances. the rotation for the particle was driven per particle over an expression addicted from the per particle velocity.
