and modeling and shading a bridge which was placed into real footage.

Due to the fact the soccer players weren't very dominant in the picture with the allianz arena at the end of the Spot, it was done by keyframed animation and multiplying the motion to the various players by making clips
and copying and blending the animation in the trax editor. Which i later discovered was not the right way when working with keyframed animation instead of motion capturing data. (I will later update this blog and put an animation example for the players here)
here are some full-res PAL snapshots:
because a footage with moving waves is nearly not trackable with any current motion capturing system, the tracking oft the 3d camera in the scene above was done manually. therefore i used a locator which had an large offset to the camera denoting an horizon. The best point which was applicable therefore, was the point where the land hits the sea, where i tracked only the rotation of the camera not it's translation. To track the zooming of the camera the boat in the picture was a good reference, here i set two locators on the bow and one on the stern of the boat, setting the zoom in that degree, that the boat always fits in between the locators. Finally there came the tracking of the Camrea translation, which was the most difficult thing to achieve, because you had to pay attention on the wave shifting relatively to a fixed point which should later represent the bridge pier. Also very important was the y- axis, because, the lower you get, the larger the object grows for the observer. also in the opposite, the higher you get, the smaller got the bridge. so i had to find an altitude which was eligible for the suggesting size of the bridge. The crowd in the stadium were not made with massive or any other crowd simulating tool. There were just simple low poly characters which were multiplicated with the maya particle instancer. Because maya was unable to render 65.000 instances we split the crowd in several sectors and rendered them seperately.
Originally we planned to set the bridge in a full 3d scene, but couldn't find a look which was matching the rest of the spot, so we had totake the solution with the real background (see first picture).
